Initially a movie theater and vaudeville house, the 1920s Fisher Theatre was renovated in the 1960s and reopened as an intimate, live theater venue. Since then, it has premiered such beloved productions as "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Hello Dolly" as well as seen performances by such Broadway greats as Carol Channing, Joel Grey and Bernadette Peters. Part of the architecturally renowned Fisher Building, the 2,089-seat theater resides near the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Public Library and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
